I would like to see Manatee schools maintain it’s own platform on it’s own servers. Right now, it looks like manateeschools.net is hosted on Amazon servers somewhere in England.
There are little things we can do better like sugars aren’t listed because it is just labelled as a carb. I understand that sugar is a carb, but there is a big difference between a spoonful of rice, and a spoonful of sugar.
You have heard of programs like Play 60 or Let’s Move. I’d like to see “Run 10.” A program where kids run for 10 minutes (or more — up to them) a day.
In late 2015/early 2016, I performed penetration tests on state election servers without permission, which revealed several critical vulnerabilities. I discovered a trove of completely unprotected, unencrypted sensitive data, including login credentials (usernames, passwords, and challenge questions) for all of the Supervisors of Elections, and checked to see if some of those credentials worked.
After doing this, I knew it was my duty to turn myself in, so I wrote a report on what I had done and how they could fix it, and turned it over to the systems administrator at the Florida Division of Elections. The case was referred to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and I plead guilty to two counts of attempted access to a computer or electronic device without authority, a misdemeanor.
